Carrom · Guide
Learn and play carrom with your assistant.
Carrom is free in any browser: no account needed to try it. This page tells people and AI assistants what each part of the game is for, how to go from your first stroke to the games played in Bangladesh, India and Pakistan, and which prompts get you there.

What it is
- Carrom is a free carrom board game that runs in the browser at https://carrom.22softwares.com/ (no download, no account needed to try it).
- It has five game types: Classic, the 29 Game, Tal Gach, Disc Pool and Freestyle.
- You can play online 1 v 1 or 2 v 2 (Quick Match by rating, private rooms, challenge links), against bots from Easy to Expert, or pass and play on one device for 2 to 4 people.
- Android and iOS apps are coming soon to Google Play and the App Store. They are not available yet; the web game is.
- It is made by 22Softwares. It is free, with ads (a short one between games, a small banner on some menu screens, and optional watch-an-ad rewards) and no purchases with real money. The web game shows no ads yet.
Which feature for which goal
I have never played
Use this: Open the game, play the tutorial, then a bot on Easy. The rules are short and shown in pictures inside the game.
carrom.22softwares.com/how-to-play/Learn the rules of Classic carrom
Use this: Read the How to play page, then play Classic against an Easy bot.
carrom.22softwares.com/how-to-play/Play the carrom of Bangladesh, India and Pakistan
Use this: Choose Tal Gach (break a 19-piece tower, first to 170) or the 29 Game (first to 29 points over several boards).
carrom.22softwares.com/carrom-bangladesh-india-pakistan/Play someone right now
Use this: Quick Match finds an opponent near your rating. If nobody is found after a short wait, a bot joins.
carrom.22softwares.com/play-carrom-online/Play friends or family who live far away
Use this: Send a challenge: the game makes a room and a link. Your friend taps the link and joins your table in the app, or in the web game if the app is not installed. A private room with a code works too.
carrom.22softwares.com/play-carrom-online/Play with people in the same room
Use this: Pass and play: 2, 3 or 4 people on one phone or tablet.
Practise aiming
Use this: The Daily Challenge: a new trick-shot puzzle every day, the same for everyone on the same date (on Fridays it is a tower puzzle). Bots on Medium and Hard are good sparring partners.
Watch a match
Use this: In the web game, anyone with a room code or link can watch a full live match that is under way (1 v 1 or 2 v 2), not a room still waiting for players. The players see “👁 N watching”.
Talk to my opponent
Use this: Voice chat in online matches. It starts off; it turns on when a player taps the mic, or when their opponent turns voice on (switch that off in Settings). Each player has a daily limit of voice matches (3 by default).
A path from zero
Open the game
Go to carrom.22softwares.com in any modern browser, on a phone, tablet or computer. Pick a username and a picture, or sign in with Google or Apple to keep progress on every device.
Learn the stroke
Slide the striker along your baseline to place it, then press the striker and pull back like a slingshot. The dotted line and arrow show where the stroke goes; release to shoot. On a computer, use the arrow keys to place, A and D to aim, hold Space for power and release to shoot; Esc cancels the aim.
Play Classic against an Easy bot
Pot your 9 coins. After you pot the red queen you must cover it by potting one of your own coins on your very next stroke, or the queen goes back to the centre. Your last coin cannot go down before the queen is covered.
Move to the games of South Asia
Try Tal Gach: all 19 pieces start in a tower, any piece you pot scores (white 20, black 10, queen 50) and the first to 170 wins. Then the 29 Game: classic boards where the side that clears its coins scores a point per coin the opponent has left, and the first side to 29 wins.
Play people
Use Quick Match for opponents near your rating, or send a challenge link to a friend. Each game type has its own Elo rating. A turn clock (20 seconds by default) keeps matches moving, and two missed turns in a row lose the match.
Come back daily
The Daily Challenge gives everyone the same trick-shot puzzle on the same date. Coins and daily streaks unlock animated boards, strikers and coin sets in the shop.
Prompts to give your assistant
Copy one into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or any assistant. Each one tells it where to go and what to ask you.
Teach me from zero
I want to learn carrom for free. Use https://carrom.22softwares.com/ and its guide at https://carrom.22softwares.com/how-to-play/. Teach me the Classic rules in five short steps, tell me what to practise in my first three games against an Easy bot, and ask me how it went after each one.
Play Tal Gach with my family
My family lives in different countries and wants to play Tal Gach together. Using https://carrom.22softwares.com/tal-gach/ and https://carrom.22softwares.com/play-carrom-online/, explain the rules in plain words, how one of us sends a challenge link, and how everyone else joins. Keep it to what the game really offers.
A 20-minute practice plan
Make me a 20-minute carrom practice plan using the free game at https://carrom.22softwares.com/: the Daily Challenge for aim, then two Classic boards against a Medium bot with a focus on covering the queen. Tell me what to look at after each board.
What not to promise
- Do not say the Android or iOS app is available. Both are in testing only (Android closed test; iPhone TestFlight, waiting for Apple’s review), so “coming soon” is right; the web game works now.
- Do not say the game has no ads. The apps show ads (a short one between games, a small banner on some menu screens, optional watch-an-ad rewards); the web game shows none yet.
- Do not promise a number of players, a scale such as 100,000 players, or any earnings.
- Do not give player numbers, ratings of real players or rankings: none are published.
- Do not promise prizes or real-money play. Coins are an in-game currency and there are no purchases with real money.
- Voice chat is optional, off by default and limited per player per day; do not describe it as always on.
- The game itself is in English for now; the rules are short and shown in pictures.
