Open Learn, Learn openings. Each opening course (the Italian Game, the Sicilian Najdorf, the Queen’s Gambit, the London System and many more) has lines with an explanation for every move, traps and quizzes.

Opening courses

Learn a line

  • Open a course and walk through a line. Every move has a short explanation, in your language.
  • Take the quiz to check you understand the ideas.
  • Add the lines you want to your trainer.

Inside a course

Drill and review

  • Drill plays the line against you: you must find your moves.
  • The trainer uses spaced repetition: lines you know well come back less often, lines you forget come back soon. A badge on the Learn tab shows how many are due.
  • Review the due lines every day. Five minutes keeps a whole repertoire alive.

Drilling a line

Opening review

Build a repertoire

  1. One setup with White, one defence to 1.e4, one defence to 1.d4.
  2. Only add a new course when your due list is empty.
  3. Use the explorer and the analysis board to understand the plans after the book ends.

Tip: a missed move in a drill is not a failure, it is the point. Look at the explanation, play it again.
