Is chessGM really free?
Yes. Games, bots, puzzles, courses, openings and unlimited Game Review are free. We show ads to keep it free. A few things have a daily free amount (see Rewarded ads).
Do I need an account?
No. Guests can play and train. An account keeps your progress on all your devices, and unlocks friends, voice chat and leaderboards.
How is my rating calculated?
Glicko, per time category. New ratings are provisional (shown with “?”) and move quickly until they settle.
Can I go from zero to 2600?
chessGM gives you a path: courses, bots up to 2600, puzzles, an engine and a coach. How far you get depends on time, practice and real games with strong opponents. See The path. Most players reach 1600 or 1800 with steady work, and titled strength needs years and tournaments.
How many hours should I study?
Start with 20 to 30 minutes a day. The weekly plans in each band give the hours.
What language does the coach speak?
English, Bangla and Hindi. Choose in Settings: the app language and the coach language are separate.
Is my chess.com password safe?
chessGM never asks for it. It reads public information (your public profile and games).
Why does my rating have a question mark?
It is provisional. A few more games and it settles.
Why was my move labelled a mistake?
The engine found a clearly better move. Open the review, tap the comment and See the line.
How do I report a bug or a cheater?
Use the report option on the profile or the game, or write to the contact address on the About page.
How do I delete my account?
Settings, Account, Delete account (Account).
